I have two 5th grade mentees that I meet with on a regular basis. Even though that may seem young to have a mentor, I believe that it is not too early to introduce the idea of possibilities for a future. Not too early to inspire and encourage them to look outside their circumstances and believe that they can rise… Read More
Impacting Others Along The Way
I had a friend say to me the other day “I don’t know what my legacy will be? How I will be remembered when I am gone?” Most of us wonder about the same thing. Why are we put here on this earth? It is not just about having your name on a building or having viral videos or posts on the internet or sending rockets to the moon, To me it is about in how you interact with and have an impact on the people around you. Your legacy can be found in the impact you made by reaching out to others even just one other person because if you impact that person’s life for the better it can have a cascading effect.
I would like to share some of my experiences in mentoring and reaching out to others and how it comes back to you in ways you never would have dreamed of thereby enriching your own life as well. By sharing those experiences we continue to enrich each other’s lives and inspire others to do the same.

Do I look worried? Ok, I was a little worried about taking a step back – that dark line looks like just seaweed but could be a deep section, or snakes hiding or creatures . . . see what happens? It’s a constant battle – the battle against worry especially when the worry is about things much more serious than… Read More
Don’t Believe All That You Are Told
“It took many years of vomiting up all the filth I’d been taught about myself, and half-believed, before I was able to walk on the earth as though I had a right to be here.” James Baldwin When I heard these words spoken by Billy Porter when he accepted his Emmy, it resonated with me. I thought about not only… Read More
A Little Laughter Goes A Long Way
I cracked myself up today! Honestly! I was laughing at myself and it was such a good laugh that I almost came to tears. Have you had a good laugh today? Have you laughed at yourself today? I walked into a door frame as I exited my home office and reacted by saying “bad door!” Maybe you had to be… Read More
