You are never a failure for having followed your dream. That it did not work out may be disappointing but not a statement on your ability to be successful. Reassess your position. Take all that you have learned and make the changes you need to continue moving forward. At one time or another we have all been told to “give it another try” or “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.” It is easy to just ask “Why bother?”
Remember we all run into obstacles – lack of money, lack of education, lack of status, lack of connections. The dream seemed impossible so it seems the next step is to just quit. I used to dream of being a professional dancer – Misty Copeland before there was a Misty Copeland. When I realized that wasn’t going to happen it hurt. I struggled with what to do next but realized I also had another dream of being an attorney and it was time to change directions. I had a dream of being a mother and when I realized that was not to be I also realized that there were many ways to have an impact on the lives of children and set out to be a mentor, friend and role model for young women.
Moving to Plan B doesn’t mean settling for second place. It means you never give up! That’s how you move forward. That’s how you learn and grow. That’s how you live your best life.
