What if today is really tomorrow and tomorrow is really yesterday? Or maybe yesterday was really today? We spend so much time regretting what we did yesterday and worrying about what we will do tomorrow that in the confusion we often forget all about what is happening in the present.
I think that is why we always wonder where the time went or feel that time is passing way to fast. No matter how young you are or how old you are each and every day consists of the same 24-hour span. What matters is how present we are for every hour, minute or second of each day. This time of year, we tend to spend time reflecting on the year or years that have passed and giving thought to the year that is to come. The problem comes when we get stuck either regretting the past of fearing the future.
We cannot change what has passed. We cannot take back the slights and insults that we suffered, the bad decisions or mistakes that we made or our lowest lows. We can appreciate what it took for us to make it to this moment in time. To come to this moment in our lives. The operative word in that statement is lives part of which is “live.” In order to truly live we need to not stand still. We need to take a moment to be present in the day that is and grateful that we have that moment so that we can make the most of every moment to come. Happy New Year!!
