“No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I AM ENOUGH. It’s going to bed at night thinking, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn’t change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging.”
When determining perfection, we have to consider that only things can be perfect but not people. The whole concept of perfection is not even something that should be applied to people. A perfect nose? The perfect figure? The perfect hair? The perfect size? When we even utter those words, it means we are making comparisons – perfect as opposed to someone else. Think about how hard it is to even imagine you can be perfect? Why would you want to be? Being perfect leaves no room for mistakes. It leaves no room for improvement. When you accept who you are you will see your unique gifts, your perfect imperfections, and your beauty inside and out.
Everything about you is the sum and substance of your journey to this point in life. The scar when from you fell off your bike in elementary school. The scar on your chin from when you were punched in karate class. The scar on your chest that reminds you of how strong you were when you faced and dealt with lung cancer. Those are only a few of what some might call my “imperfections” and I think each one is perfect because it all made me the strong, blessed, grateful person that I am now. Take a careful look at your so-called imperfections and instead of wishing that they were perfect be grateful that, whether they were with you when you began this journey or they became part of you along the way, they make you uniquely you!
