No matter how sophisticated they become robots (like my new friend in the mural here, Bob) are merely machines designed to act like living things. Whether it is a robotic animal or human, its success is defined by how well it can perform the things that living beings do. No matter how hard they try to make it work, a robot cannot mimic the range of emotions we humans have – love, laughter, pain, sorrow.
There are times when we become robotic in our actions. Times when we suppress our emotions thinking that we will be better for it. Times when we cannot control our emotions and lash out at the world. Times when we refuse to make decisions and let others do it for us. Times when we are confused and we just follow the crowd because it’s easier.
During these times of confusion, sadness, anger, and pain, it is important to not be robotic in what we do but be open, honest, and true to yourself. You can still be involved but take time for yourself. Whatever works best for you – do it! Self-care in difficult times like these is important. You do not want to wake up and feel lost or sad because you are just going through the motions of living life as others want you to do. That you are just meeting the lowered expectations that everyone has for you. You are more than that. I am more than that. Together we are more than that. Do you! Be you! Love you! Then you will help “you” not be a robot and truly live the life you were meant to live.
Great post!!!
It’s human nature to sometimes lose sight, based on our particular circumstances when we are confused, feel pain, sadness and especially anger. We have to remember if we just go through the motions, we will never live up to the expectations we have for ourselves. Robots don”t have expectations…
Thank you so much for your words. I am glad it resonated with you.
