At a social function several months ago, I have the distinct honor of being introduced Lloydann A. Wade. Lloydann is an amazing young woman embarking on her legal career in Sarasota, Florida. We were introduced by a mutual friend, Lillian Elliott of the Sarasota Women’s Resource Center and I am so grateful that she did.
Lloydann graduated from Law School in 2014. She spent the following years struggling trying to establish herself in the legal community – a journey that led her to become a Assistant State Attorney in the Sarasota Office of the State Attorney. Prior to joining that office, she had several internships and a not so fulfilling position in a law firm where she struggled to survive as an attorney. It was not easy.
Her position now provides her with a nurturing, supportive, exciting environment where she feels respected by her peer. She is getting a lot of opportunities to let her light shine. In the short time I have known Lloydann, I have never seen her without a smile. She is thankful for having the opportunity to learn at the feet of so many experienced attorneys and she relishes the challenges before her in the State Attorney’s Office.
I am grateful to be along for her exciting ride as a mentor. I want to be her supporter and biggest cheerleader and, most of all her friend. We all need a sounding board or a little help in figuring things out even when it all seems to be going well. With Lloydann, I hope to be there to watch her journey as it unfolds and to never let the twinkle in her eyes dim. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
