In her book “Age Is Nothing But A State of Mind” Suzy Toronto said ” . . . when you change nothing, nothing will change. But with a new attitude, you can really make a difference.” This is not profound. In fact. it is simple but sometimes we need to see it in writing to make the light come on in our heads.

Life isn’t about sitting still and watching the world go by then wondering how you got left behind. At any age and any stage of life if we want to change things in our lives, we need to take a look at ourselves first and make an assessment from the inside out of what we might need to change or improve to make ourselves happier, to move forward in a new job, to get a first date, to lift our spirits. A lot of times, it just requires an attitude adjustment. We can look at the examples of those who have gone before us paving the way and those who are standing beside us showing us the way. We can find strength in them to tackle the people who try to stand in front of us and block our way.
My brother used to have a mantra which was “Mountain got out of my way!” My mantra was always “No Fear!” When I was most afraid just saying “No Fear” over and over in my head gave me the courage to keep moving forward even though I was truly afraid inside and then use that fear to reach my goal. I would start my first day at work or my first interview or an important meeting where I may be feeling threatened or afraid by taking a few deep breaths and saying this to myself. Soon I learned to believe it and then I was fearless.
Try to think of a few words that will help you keep going even when you feel it is impossible because as the another saying goes “Nothing is Impossible because I’m possible.”*
