‘Tis the week before Christmas and it’s just not the same.
The year has been crazy, but I think I’m still sane.
I can’t see my family except from afar.
I can’t see the girls so I’ll wish on a star.
I can’t go to the mall but at least I won’t spend.
I can’t go to the Nutcracker or hug my dear friend.
Rather than looking at things that I cannot do,
I would rather spend time thinking of others like you.
I can give a smile or a call to say “Hi!”
I can give of my time or at least I can try.
Words of encouragement are desperately needed.
Especially for those whose needs are not heeded.
It’s not about the one day or material things.
It’s about unselfish giving and holding to dreams.
When we think about others and reach out to help
You give back to them and think not of yourself.
Reach out to each other in gratitude and prayer,
that we need one another, and we really care.
So, here’s to the season as difficult as it seems
And here’s to the new year and all that it brings!
