Confucius was a Chinese teacher, politician, and philosopher born in 551 BC. He has often been quoted and one of my favorites is that “It doesn’t matter how slowly you go, so long as you don’t stop.” So very true.
These days everyone rushes to do everything – traffic never slows and drivers get more aggressive trying to get there first. No one wants to start at the bottom in a career but simply start at the top and learn as they go. Civility is becoming a very rare thing to experience.
People who find relationships hitting a bump or getting messy or difficult don’t want to work at holding on to love but then was it really love? Nope, just a hook up – sorry if you took it for something else. It’s not everyone but enough of us that some days it is hard to find people who are genuinely enjoying their journey instead of just racing ahead. Ever try to get out of a parking space at the mall or the supermarket? It’s like trying to run an obstacle course.
I hope that at some point things turn around so that we can thoroughly enjoy our random interactions throughout the day. That means slow down, live in the moment and not the moments yet to come. We can all try to help civility and simple acts of kindness return. Really try to leave those around you with a smile and happy that they were a small part of your journey for the moment and you should feel the same about being part of theirs. Moving so fast and being in your own bubble not caring about what goes on around you or how you impact those left in your wake is not a way to happiness. You miss too much along the way. Think about this –
“The happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the best out of everything that comes their way.”
