Many of us are into five weeks or more of social-distancing and quarantining ourselves as we try to make our way through the challenges we face due to the presence of COVID-19 in our lives. We try to find moments of gratitude but even now for many it is hard to find reasons to be grateful when so much has been lost financially and emotionally. If given the choice between living fearfully or hopefully, I choose hope.
Hope that we will continue to respect, love and support each other – those we know and those we don’t – recognizing that we are all in this together. If you are fortunate enough to be able to navigate these times without worry about food or shelter give thought and help to those who cannot.
Hope that our front line workers who are going about their jobs at great risk to their own lives to provide services and goods for the rest of us continue to do so without harm to themselves and their loved ones.
Hope that people continue to recover in large numbers from the virus and hope that financial relief in all the various forms that are being talked about now come to fruition soon enough to really help those that need it most.
It is with hope that we move forward and get better in all the ways that matter because in fear we move backwards or stand still. It is in hope that we pick up the pieces and resume our lives moving towards a better life rather than in fear where we are overwhelmed by the pieces and allow ourselves to be stuck. This is a detour in our journey as a country and as individuals and like with any detour we will be back on the main road soon.
