So here we are – a few days into the new year. Does it feel any different than it did a week ago? It’s supposed to be different, right? At least that’s what a lot of people expect.
I choose not to make resolutions for the new year. I consider myself a work in progress so I am continually looking for ways to improve myself and inspire or uplift others around me especially women and girls. I look forward to opportunities to challenge myself whether physically through my workouts, mentally through reading and listening and learning from people around me and spiritually through church, loving and giving – for as a wonderful line in a song from Les Misérables says “to love another person is to see the face of God.”
A lot of people feel let down after the holidays are over and the fireworks have ended because they wake up the next day and it is business as usual. What we have to remember is that nothing is going to change unless we ourselves change it. Rather than waiting for the new year to show you exciting new things we should go running into the new year looking for new opportunities to grow and change and make exciting things happen for ourselves. Me, I’m still writing and coming up with ideas for posts. If you are feeling lost or let down in any way as the new year begins – make something happen! Don’t wait for it to happen to you.
